Bears lost to the Patriots 17-13. Is our QB to blame?

The new FieldTurf at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, was to serve as a figurative proving ground for the Chicago Bears.

Only we didn't learn a whole lot new about the Bears. No, we already knew that as their defense taketh, the Bears' offense, particularly quarterback Rex Grossman, will from time to time giveth away. That flaw cost the Bears for the second time this season and if they don't get it corrected it most certainly will cost them in the postseason, when there is no next week.

Chicago forced five New England turnovers (bringing the Bears' league-leading total to 34) Sunday, including four takeaways with Patriots threatening to score. But Grossman offset those takeaways with three interceptions (giving him 11 in the past six games) and a fumbled exchange with Pro Bowl center Olin Kreutz inside the New England 10 in the second quarter of a game in which, as expected, points were at a premium.

Rex Grossman

The Patriots (8-3) won, 17-13. And in the process Grossman did not win over any of the team's critics who believe that he alone is the difference between a Chicago Super Bowl run and another early playoff exit. Grossman posted a season-low 23.6 efficiency rating -- so low it's less than the young quarterback's age, 26 -- in completing 15 of 34 passes for 176 yards against in fairness what is one of the league's stingiest defenses. But the fact is, beginning with the Bears' wild Monday night win over the Cardinals in the desert, Grossman has been lost ... then found ... and then lost again. He's been awful against Arizona, brilliant after the Bears' bye against San Francisco, bad against Miami, good again against the Giants, good enough against the Jets, and reverted to bad against New England.

Jasmine and mommy time !!!

Lately our Jasmine turns whenever she hears my voice. She reacts to sounds with a curious gaze to see where they came from. I think she even started recognizing her own name now, too. When I talk, she stares at my mouth and looks like she is trying to imitate me. Whenever I talk to her in Spanish, she looks at me and smiles. Sometimes she laughs out loud pretty hard when I'm talking even if I'm not talking to her. When I'm occupied with other things, my baby starts to babble and squeal as if calling me to say, "Hey! Talk to me! I'm here!"

It's pretty gratifying for me after the many hours of hard work I've logged in taking care her. Our relationship started pretty one-sided and it continued like that for a while. Now, its beginning to blossom into a pretty interactive relationship. More and more often, I feel like dropping everything to just to get down on the floor to have fun with my baby. She loves it when I pick her up, but I think I love it more.

This week, we are going to Indiana, to visit the Burketts and the Radtkes. It's a shame that my Steven can't accompany us. We will certainly miss him. I just know they're just gonna eat Jasmine up over there. Pictures will probably be posted soon from the trip. Til then !!!

Da Bears !!!

Elias Says
Chicago Bears
The Bears walloped the Giants, 38-20, on Sunday night -- the second-most points that the Bears have ever scored against the Giants, in a rivalry that dates back to 1925. On Nov. 14, 1943, the Bears drubbed the Giants, 56-7, at the Polo Grounds, in a game in which Sid Luckman set an NFL record (since tied, never surpassed) with seven touchdown passes.

The plague !!! Divorces left and right !!!

Britney and Kevin the Prenup Details!

Details are already emerging over their pre-nuptual agreement. Pre-marriage, K-Fed was dancing his way to $30,000 a year. Post marriage? From an Us Magazine article from December 2005, the details of their pre-nup:

• K-Fed won’t touch a penny of Britney’s money. All the millions belonging to Britney will stay that way.
• The mansion will be divided 50/50.
• Any gift given worth over $10,000 will go back to the original purchaser. This includes a custom-built motorcycle Brit gave K-Fed for Christmas 2 years ago.
• She will still support him for a little while longer. Brit will pay Kevin $30,000 a month for the period of time that is half the length of their marriage. Meaning he’ll be well sneakered until at least a year from now.
• Spears won’t pay child support. Federline is still responsible for supporting his other two children with previous baby momma Shar Jackson. Luckily, Britney should be able to put food on the table for at least another 200,000 more years.

TMZ obtained the legal papers, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." In her petition, Spears asks for both legal and physical custody of the couple's two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights.

As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Oct. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees.

Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events."

Kevin Federline has responded to his estranged wife's divorce petition. Federline is asking for legal and physical custody of the couple's children. Sources tell say that Federline will fight Spears on the custody issue. In the response, Federline is asking the judge to award Spears visitation. Federline is also asking the court to award him spousal support.

Sometimes Everyone Needs a little Photoshopping

One more night of work !!!

Its actually Monday morning and I'm at work AGAIN! Everytime I get on the computer I'm reminded that I need to cut my nails. I have to fix my typing like once every other word. If I didn't fix it, this paragraph would actually look like this: iwerjf jweri8cne iweic nasdlii... You get the picture... There's an Elvis Presley movie in the background and nobody seems to realize that there IS such a thing as changing the channel. I'm on my third cup of coffee tonight. My new contact lenses are awesome. They're the new Acuvue Oasis, and my eyes never dry out, even when I'm super tired (like right now.) I am sooooooo into scrapbooking lately. I have discovered websites that can let you print beautiful designs and prints and fonts off of it for free like www.scrapbookscrapbook.com or www.freedigitalscrapbooking.com . I can't print much though because ink is so darn expensive. I went to Joan Fabrics this afternoon after I stopped at Olive Garden to pick up the food club meals for tonight, and I got like fifty bucks worth of beautiful scrapbooking supplies. I just love it that Christmas is coming up. I wish I had a home to decorate. My Steve and my Jasmine are gonna be gone up til Christmas day, and I'll be stuck at work. Who knows where my mom will be, and I can definetly count on not being dining w any other family members except abuela, with Jose and his busy schedule and all, dad always working, and Junito and Francisco in their own busy lives. How sad. I'll make the most of it. I just love Christmas. It will be Jasmine's first. Still trying to get that darn Tickle me Elmo T.M.X. 10th Anniversary Edition toy. I checked amazon.com today and it was for sale for $170.00 I mean seriously, are they nuts? I can't wait til I get one. Jasmine will love it. Most of the scrapbooking stuff I bought was Christmas little stick ons and other cute stuff. The night is going super duper slow. Its 5:35 am now and I have to go do the morning treatments for day shift because they are one person short. Will the favor be repaid? If only ! The show "Heroes" comes on tonight, along with "What about Brian;" two shows that I'm totally hooked on. Steven works day shift today because he's working for a girl whose mother is starting chemo today. I guess that favor can be repaid someday when Steven needs to stay home to rub my feet. If only ! Til next time !!!

Colts won !!!

Super Bowl, here we come. Bears vs. Colts maybe? If only. We are allowed to dream ! http://nfl.com/scores
You know it's a huge game when Bill Belichick upgrades from his usual sideline attire -- a gray, half-sleeve hoody he wore while cleaning the basement crawl space -- to a stylish, full-sleeved, bloodshot-red sweatshirt fresh out of the wrapper. The blue headband was a nice fashion touch, too. You didn't know if Belichick was coaching the New England Patriots, or late for a photo shoot at Killington ski resort.

What a strange, strange Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. Strange because nothing played out the way you thought it might. The Indianapolis Colts won. Tom Brady threw four interceptions. Indy import Adam Vinatieri missed two field goals. And no New England tailback set a club rushing record. Go figure.

For the second consecutive season the Colts remain the only undefeated team in the NFL. And for the second time in the last 12 months, the Colts have beaten Brady's Patriots. All things considered, this is like the leaves turning green in the fall.

What does the 27-20 victory mean? Nothing ... yet. But it could.

David Butler II/US PRESSWIRE
Peyton Manning and the Colts started 14-0 last year. Could they top that this season?

It could mean the 1972 Miami Dolphins will have to sweat out their champagne ceremony for a while. Last year the Colts didn't lose their first game until Dec. 18, 14 games into their season. But think about the delicious possibilities if Indy could somehow beat Buffalo, take advantage of psycho Dallas, wear down Philly, trounce Tennessee, survive Jacksonville, sneak past Cincinnati and overwhelm Houston.

Fifteen-and-oh with one regular season game left to play. Against, ta-da, Miami. The same Miami team that ended Chicago's perfect season Sunday.

"Lovie let me down today," said Colts coach Tony Dungy, referring to close friend and Bears coach, Lovie Smith. "I was hoping they'd continue to win ... they'd get all the focus."

Truth is, the Colts are better equipped to handle the pressure of an unbeaten streak. The Bears were all nervous twitches and bad manners. Exposed by lowly Arizona and then slapped around by the same one-victory Dolphins that the Chicago Tribune ranked as the worst in the NFL ("Can't even beat the bad teams," said the Trib last Wednesday), the Bears were a meltdown waiting to happen. Too much pressure on an erratic and inconsistent Rex Grossman.

But Manning is anything but erratic. His 326-yard, two-touchdown performance was his third consecutive 300-yard game, a surprising first for a guy with his off-the-chart career passing totals. Watching him orchestrate the Colts lethal offense Sunday evening was like watching a high school drama club teacher tell everyone where to stand on stage. Chaos, then ... perfection.

If anyone, other than Brady, can lead a team to a 16-0 record, it's Manning. You should have seen him when his Sprint commercial appeared on the stadium jumbotron as the Colts waited to begin their first drive of the night. You know the spot: Manning, wearing a Burt Reynolds toupee and a fake mustache, standing in his garage talking about, well, Manning.

As the commercial played to a growing chorus of boos at Gillette, Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel caught Manning's attention. "Just sort of awkward eye contact," said Manning. "I think he's kind of wondering why it's being shown.

Then the quarterback's own teammates started on him.

"My linemen were just killing me," Manning said.

These were the same linemen who left the visiting locker room at night's end with victory cigars sticking out of their suit pockets. Meanwhile, Manning was dreading Wednesday's interview session with the media. For this he can blame his alma mater, Tennessee. Thanks to LSU's victory against the Vols on Saturday evening -- and a lost bet to LSU alum and Colts rookie Joseph Addai -- Manning has to wear a Tigers sweatshirt.

So then, does this sound like a quarterback and a team feeling the weight of an 8-0 record? Does it sound like a team overcome by the hype?

"We just don't believe any of it," Manning said.

Good idea. The Colts have flaws, but the Patriots couldn't take advantage of them. They gained 148 yards on the ground, but we expected more. They scored 20 points, but we expected more. They committed five turnovers, but we expected less. Much less.

"The thing is, stats lie," said Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney. "Stats are just stats."

And the stats said the Colts were the worst rush defense in the league. But here they are, undefeated, fresh from beating the Denver Broncos in Denver, and now the Patriots in Foxborough. Maybe Freeney is right. The only numbers that matter are the ones on the scoreboard.

"We're not playing quite as sharp as last year, but we're finding different ways to win," Dungy said. "That's good."

On a night when the usually automatic Vinatieri missed two of four attempts during his return ... when the Colts rushed for a grand total of 53 yards ... when Manning was sacked three times and pressured five times that often -- Indianapolis still won. That's very good.

One of my memories of this game will be the sight of Patriots cornerback Ellis Hobbs and linebacker Junior Seau slapping their thighs in frustration after Manning, while getting sandwiched by the New England rush, completed a crucial pass early in the fourth quarter. Or maybe it was the look of disbelief on Hobbs' face when Marvin Harrison somehow held on to a Manning pass at the end zone's edge, and then dragged his left foot to make it legal. Or maybe it was the simple postgame handshake by Brady and Manning.

"I will enjoy this one for a little bit," Manning said.

He should. But just for a little bit. That's all a strange win is worth these days.

Bears lost !!!

(Nov. 5, 2006) -- Maybe Rex Grossman's Monday night nightmare against Arizona wasn't such an aberration after all. The Chicago Bears quarterback was overwhelmed again -- this time by a better defense than he faced when his team made a miraculous rally to escape an embarrassing loss in the desert. And after the Bears' embarrassing (there is no other word), 31-13 loss at home to the lowly Miami Dolphins, these questions will be asked throughout the NFL: Was Chicago's 7-0 start legitimate? Did the Bears merely benefit from a soft schedule?
Certainly, it's hard to offer much of an argument on their behalf. The Dolphins intercepted Grossman three times (with Jason Taylor returning one 20 yards for a touchdown), and forced him to fumble. They pressured him constantly, and he responded with poor throws and lousy decisions in the pocket. It seemed that neither Grossman nor the rest of the Bears offense was right once the team's best big-play target, Bernard Berrian, left the game with a rib injury on Chicago's opening possession. The Dolphins forced two other fumbles as part of a defensive effort that looked a lot like what one would expect from Chicago's top-ranked unit. Of course, the Dolphins do have the fifth-best defense in the league, something that the Bears might have forgotten while perhaps looking ahead to their Week 10 showdown against the New York Giants.
Joey Harrington threw for only 137 yards and was intercepted twice, yet he did have three touchdown passes. Ronnie Brown allowed the Dolphins to maintain control by rushing for a career-high 157 yards on a career-best 29 carries. The way the Bears played against Miami, it's hard to see them being able to right themselves against a Giant team that has won five games in a row and might very well be a more legitimate powerhouse.

Gisselle song !!! De que nos vale !

This song is about people who get married thinking its forever!!!

Ricardo Arjona Song! Love it !!!

A ti te estoy hablando a ti tan sorda y resignada…

YES! 'Sex and the City' Movie Back On?

The film version of Sex And The City is back on track after negotiations with the series' four leading ladies made significant progress this week. Stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon were set to star in the big screen version of the hit show before the project collapsed. US Ok! magazine reports exclusively that a studio source has confirmed that the long-postponed project is closer to becoming a reality after "substantial negotiations have opened with each of the stars' teams this week." According to the studio insider, "Obviously, there is still a lot to be worked out contractually, but it would be amazing to get this project off the ground. There is no doubt that fans cannot wait to see them all reunited."

Rumors have circulated since the show ended in 2004 that the project was unable to get off the ground because of behind-the-scenes drama between the actresses. Kim Cattrall reportedly refused to appear in the feature film, which reportedly doomed the project. According to sources, enough time has passed and the stars are willing to put their differences aside and move forward with the highly anticipated project.
